 | The Annual Awards Banquet for Mid-Nebr Speedway was held January 9 at Howard Johnson Riverside Inn of Grand Island. Drivers received more than $11,700 dollars from points funds as well as trophies during the awards ceremonies of the Banquet. Jerry Jacobs had another excellent slide show after the meal for everyone to enjoy.
Hajny’s Auto Sales of Hastings sponsored trophies for the top ten IMCA Hobby Stock drivers. The top five drivers received added points fund money provided by H&H Distributing of G.I., Sunoco sponsored by Mid-Nebr Speedway, IMCA Sanctioning money sponsored by Mid-Nebr Speedway and A-Feature winner hats sponsored by IMCA/Speedway Motors Weekly Racing. Cody Blessing was tenth, Jim Buss received ninth, Dillon Thompson eighth, Tyler Andreasen was seventh and each received added Track Fuel money. Tim Miller finished sixth at Mid-Nebr and first at Dawson Co. Raceway. Terry Eatherton received 5th place and was also the Rookie of the Year. Fourth went to Jerry Barribo, Kyle Bond was third and Troy Paxton was second in IMCA Points and first as Mid-Nebr Speedway Points. The IMCA Points Championship went to Andy Gregg.
Pump & Pantry of G.I. sponsored the Top 10 Trophies for the IMCA Modified drivers. The top fifteen drivers shared $1881.76 from IMCA Sanctioning. The Top 5 shared added money sponsored by H&H Distributing, Sunoco Fuel Money and Hoosier Tire Money sponsored Mid-Nebr for a total of $2566.76. Brent Hoefelman finished tenth, Brooke Eilts ninth, Brian Levander eighth, James Moore seventh, Robby Leonard was sixth. Robby also received and received added Track Fuel money and a gift certificate sponsored by Perkins Restaurant & Bakery of Grand Island. Fifth went to John Haubold, Wade Cross finished fourth with Scott Blessing and Jarred Hackler in a tie for second place. The 2009 IMCA Modified Championship went to Chad Dolan. Chad finished 14th in the Central Region as well as winning the points at Dawson Co. Raceway.
Tagart Auto Supply – NAPA of G.I. sponsored the Top 10 Trophies for the Grand National Late Model Division. The top fifteen drivers received added Sunoco Points Money and Hoosier Tire Points Money sponsored by Mid-Nebr Speedway plus $7,200 added by the drivers and Mid-Nebr. The top 5 also received added money provided by H&H Distributing making the total over $8,000. Larry Iiams was tenth with ninth going to Jake Smidt. Robert Leonard received eighth and was voted “COOLEST CAR” by the Fans for the 2009 Season. Josh Leonard finished seventh, Tom Kubicka sixth and Alex Humphrey fifth. Alex also received a gift certificate sponsored by Perkins Restaurant & Bakery of Grand Island. Dave Cook took fourth place with third going to Kevin Safranek and Bob Milander was second. Bob also received a trophy sponsored by Rieflin Farms for Favorite Driver of the 2009 Season. The 2009 Grand National Late Model driver was Justin Gregg.
GM Fabrication represented by Steven & Belinda Wessel awarded “Parts Certificates” to the driver in each class who moved up the most in points from the beginning of the season. Certificate winners were Awards Plus Junior Hornet was Jordan Lawhorne, Hornet Driver Mike Poland, IMCA Hobby Stock Jim Buss and Grand National Late Model Mike Hetrick.
Don’s Lock & Key Service presented a Trophy to Michael Boehle for being the Happy Hornet Rookie of the Year. IMCA Hobby Stock Rookie of the Year sponsored by Leonard Graphics and Leonard Chassis went to Terry Eatherton. The IMCA Modified Trophy for Rookie of the Year was sponsored by Pump & Pantry of G.I. and presented to Jarred Hackler. Dave Schroeder, Attorney at Law sponsored the Grand National Late Model Trophy for Rookie of the Year and was presented to Jake Smidt.
